CHAPTER TWENTY TWO
Gabe sensed that someone was outside his office just before there was a light tap at the door.
âCome in,â he said, spinning around in his chair.
The door was pushed open and he found a very nervous Holly standing there, wearing one of his t-shirts. He felt a twinge of sympathy for her. Holly defaulted to anxious so often.
âWhatâs up?â he asked. âCanât sleep?â
âNo...are you really busy?â she replied, not quite meeting his eyes.
âNot if itâs for you.â
She smiled and shifted awkwardly in place. âUh...I want to talk about something. Itâs kinda serious.â
âAll right.â He stood up and walked over to her, then took her hand and walked with her into the living room.
It was dark now, past midnight, and heâd wanted to get some more writing done. Yesterday had been fun, the lingerie shoot going on for a while, and ultimately be derailed by a threesome that both Gabe and Holly initiated because they couldnât contain themselves with Ellen looking that fantastic. And, luckily, Holly only had a short shift at the cafe the following day, so theyâd spent most of it just hanging out and fucking around.
They sat together on the big couch, lit mostly by the soft light of the moon and the streetlights spilling in through the window around the edges of the curtain behind them.
He looked at her and waited. Heâd known something like this was coming. Holly was many things, but subtle was not one of them. She wore her heart on her sleeve and didnât seem to be able to do anything but that.
âHolly,â he murmured when it became clear she was struggling, he took her hand, âwhatever it is, trust that I wonât yell at you, or blow you off, or make you leave. Trust that if youâre taking a leap of faith, even if the answer is ânoâ, Iâll still be there to catch you.â
She smiled and something seemed to resolve behind her eyes, like some battle sheâd been waging internally had abruptly come to an end.
âOkay...youâre right. I do trust you. I mean I sleep beside you almost every night now and I let you fuck me raw pretty much every day. Doesnât get much more trusting than that,â she murmured. She paused, then took a deep breath and let it out slowly. âOkay, so...Iâve talked about this with Ellen already, and she kind of told me âyesâ, but also gently guided me towards you. But basically...I want this to be official. I want to for real be dating you and Ellen, and I want to move in with you.â
She stopped speaking abruptly, looking like she wanted to throw a lot more out, probably to try and justify it, but was sitting on that impulse. She regarded him with wide eyes, her lips pressed tightly together.
âAnd you spoke to Ellen about it already?â Gabe asked, trying to consider everything here.
âYes. And she said...basically yes, but itâs up to you?â
He chuckled softly. âAll right then. Weâve been discussing the possibility of making this official and having you move in with us for a bit now.
